Feature
Call a waiter from the table with one tap
With KioSync, guests ask for water, a waiter, cutlery or the bill from the same table QR they order with. Your kitchen screen chimes and shows which table needs help.
Four one-tap requests for dine-in guests
The table QR page that guests order from also carries four call-waiter buttons: Water, Call Waiter, Cutlery / Napkins, Get Bill. Each is a single tap, and there is no app to download.
Guests use them for the small things that usually mean waving across the room: a water refill, a missing spoon or more napkins, a question for a waiter, or the bill at the end of the meal. The buttons sit on the same page as the menu, so a guest can ask for water while still deciding what to order.
The buttons show only for dine-in orders. Takeaway guests don’t see them, because there is no table to come to.
How your team sees it
Requests appear on the KioSync kitchen display. A two-tone chime plays that differs from the new-order sound, so the kitchen can tell a table request from a new order without looking up. A banner then shows the table number and the request, for example “Table 4 · Water”.
Because the banner names the request, staff can bring the water or the bill on the first trip instead of walking over to ask. Whoever is free acknowledges the request with one tap on the kitchen display.
If the kitchen display runs in the KioSync Windows app, the chime keeps playing even when the app is minimised.
No buzzers to install
Call waiter uses the QR code that is already on the table, so there are no table buzzers, pagers or batteries to buy and look after. Guests use their own phones, and your team uses the kitchen screen you already run. KioSync needs no proprietary hardware.
Every table’s QR code carries both ordering and call waiter, so a new table is ready for both as soon as its code is printed. You don’t need captain mode for call waiter: it works in every KioSync restaurant.
Repeated taps don’t flood the screen
Guests often tap again when nobody seems to have noticed. KioSync merges repeat taps for the same request from the same table within 60 seconds into one request, so three taps on Water show as one call, not three. This keeps the screen readable during a rush, when several tables may be calling at once.
A request for something else, such as the bill, still comes through as its own call, and once staff acknowledge a request, the next tap counts as a new one.
Works alongside QR ordering and table service
Guests order from the table QR and call a waiter from the same page, so there is no second code to scan. For dine-in guests, that one page covers the whole visit: the menu, the order, help when they need it and the bill.
When a table taps Get Bill, guests can pay online from their own phone if you take online payments, or staff take payment and mark the order paid. If you use the optional captain mode, which KioSync switches on for your restaurant on request, a captain can settle that table’s running bill from the floor plan.
Quick help at the table is one of the simplest ways to make a restaurant more customer-friendly.
Frequently asked questions
Do guests need an app to call a waiter?
No. Dine-in guests get the call-waiter buttons on the same table QR page they order from, in their phone’s browser.
Where do waiter calls appear?
Waiter calls appear on the KioSync kitchen display, with a chime and a banner showing the table and the request.
What if a guest taps again and again?
If a guest taps the same request again within 60 seconds, KioSync merges the taps into one request, so the screen isn’t flooded.
Can guests ask for the bill this way?
Yes. Dine-in guests tap Get Bill on the table QR page, and the kitchen display shows which table wants its bill.
Can staff mark a request as handled?
Yes. Staff mark a waiter call as handled with one tap on the kitchen display.
